OC CAMFT Workshop With GGOC Directors
Gather and Grow OC Directors discuss the GGOC philosophy and how they are sharing it with the wider Orange County therapy community.
When we started Gather and Grow OC it was really important to us that folks who came in for therapy knew that they were going to receive affirming and knowledgeable services. We believe that for those of us in the “self-growth business” this means that we also have to strive to always be learning and growing! We take this challenge very seriously for ourselves and expect everyone on our team to do the same.
We’re humans, with a unique set of experiences. None of us will “know it all.” Even in areas we work in often, we don’t assume that we’re going to know the story of every client that walks through our doors but we can commit to listening to the stories folks tell us, witnessing is an important part of healing, and honoring that story for the important narrative that is. When something feels “off” to us in session we want to use that feeling to support our clients but also be very clear about where that feeling of “off” is coming from. Especially, in the work that our team does with marginalized communities we want to make sure that the “off” feeling isn’t just a sign of a story we’re unfamiliar with or and experience we’ve never had.
For these reasons, we’re so excited to get to offer this workshop to the Orange County CA Marriage and Family Therapy professional community! We believe that this is such an important exploration for any therapist looking to competently serve diverse clientele and an offering we feel grateful to be able to give to our local shared community.
